Leipzig, Eisenbahnstraße

The offence of “Üble Nachrede (§ 186 StGB)” (bad slander) accuses a person/group with the accusation of damaging - e.g. false statements - to report or spread about a person/ group - this offence provides for imprisonment of up to one year or a fine; the offence is committed publicly or through the dissemination of writings, even imprisonment of up to two years.
        German TV station Pro7 reported in 2013 in a feature about a street in Leipzig called “Eisenbahnstraße”. It is called the “worst street in Germany”. Thanks to this show, the street has been carrying this status in many minds ever since. Gang wars are there on the agenda, wonderful cheap real estate would be empty because no one wants to film in; and dealers anyway. They are on every corner.
        But what makes a single street in a medium-sized city the “worst street in Germany”? Who are the residents along the street? How could the street look like in a couple of years? I went there and took some photos.
